Dome Pistons - Why
Is there any advantage to using dome style pistons?

More compression ... in the past we've cut the heads a long ways and keep a flatter piston to get better flame travel

in the high end markets, Pro Stock and Nascar Cup, the cylinder head chambers are getting smaller with shallower valve angles. This alows either a flat top piston or a dished piston to keep the compression up and still get good quench and flame travel.

yep, acomplish the high compression with a flat piston and make
the chamber small, but for those with large chambers can use the
dome to fill the chamber, but flats are a better plan to get high
compression, good luck

Zip.
I've seen a few in previously running motors moments later.
