I have bought a 94 ford lightning for my next project, done some research and it says they came stock from the factory 280 horsepower. I was just wondering, is this horsepower rating at the crank or at the wheels? If its at the crank, do I take 20% off the horsepower rating for drive train loss?
I'm not sure about the 20% though, that percentage sounds high, it really depends on the transmission, take off more for auto's (around 30 -40Hp) > less for a manual.
I thought that starting somewhere in the early 70's they started rating them at the rear wheels! So that would be 280 at the rear and probably 350 (?)at the flywheel.
