you should call and talk to the guys at turbo city about the tbi set up, that is your limiting factor. I would say no bigger than a 190 intake runner at the most. dart makes some nice 165cc steel heads that i believe have the tbi intake center bolt angle. You are def. gonna need a upgraded tbi, fuel pressure and computer when changing to somethin that flows that much better than stock if you dont want to waste your money.

hi Bones427, for the bang try a set of gm vortec heads they are eazy to find a they flow more than a bow tie (p/n 10134392) they are also fuel injected heads and are 64cc 194/150 vavles the p/n for them is casting # 10239906. remember this are center bolt vavle clovers.

I agree with kwkracing, your definetly limited to what you can do with a tbi set-up, just asking why stay with a tbi? emissions laws?
If your stuck using the tbi, I would go with the vortec heads over anything else.
No sense in spending a bunch of dough on some high flowing heads that you wont be getting the full potential out of, your engine will be kinda like breathing thru a straw.

kwracing got the right idea, and you can buy them here, for $350.00 per set in any runner and valve size. Bare but valves are cheap, i don't think you'll find a better price, on the shelf.

i have a 406 with the 262 extreme 4x4 cam with vortec heads,performer intake q.jet 750 carb for milage,and in a 89 1 ton gmc extended cab,and wow i love the torque!!!
the truck came with a 454 and previous owner pulled it out but i have to say the 406 has way more balls!!!
id say you have a good cam,but id say stick with between 165 cc and no more than about 195.
remember its a tow truck not a race truck,i give huge props to my combo and if you get some smallish heads the responsiveness and torque will satisfy.by the way with my combo id say it pulls strong to about 5000 rpms

tbi
im now talking to howell fuel injection about doing my computer and tbi upgrades for my 388" and they also are going to do the computer so i can put a 4l80e in my 93 chevy 4x4, very reasonable too!
I am making a call again tomorrow. i want to run the dart ss heads, they have 165cc runners and you can get them in many chamber sizes, and for the price im not complaining on a set of heads!
