The pic below is the reason for it, happened last month. The tire is a nationally known brand, with no miles, it was just old. Installed it on my beater I am in the process of replacing, because I am cheap and it was free. When it let go, (it stayed aired up) the center of it was immediately 4 to 5 inches higher than normal, made for a wild ride before I got it stopped...

Dry rot is the killer, never buy a tire more than 5 years old.
I did date a chic once that had a GREAT set of rims!

aint that weird. ive bought cars with REALLY OLD tires on them .have to air them up to get them out of the dirt then when i get thee car runnin drive it with those old tires. my 62 galaxie has tires that were put on it in 1974.and they are still on it and ive been on a couple 250 mile trips in it.but i got a spare.just thought of something. i got a spare and a bumper jack. but no front bumper lol oh lordy.

I really miss those days of the hook-under bumper jack. ALWAYS a challenge to change a tire on any type of sloped shoulder made of soft gravel. Ya learn real quick about problem solving, action and reaction, physics, and DANGER !

my 79 wagon has the bumper jack and the spare thought that was rare

I wouldn't use it anymore on those G-bodys....rear frame rails rust and get very weak...would not be fun.
