I Need some professional input from the Sharks
 

Im in process of buying a BBC for $2900--Im smart enough to know if it sounds too good to be true it usually is-The delima with this is hes using the Auto trader as a go between.Im to send the money to The Autotrader who holds the money until I have recieved the engine-I just recieved a phonecall from him & guess what? He has a hell of a foreign accent??The ad# is 1718475-And just when I think I have seen them all??Check this out for me,Theres noway it can be for real--He is suppost to be in the Army in Fl.& the engine is in CA. Maybe I can tell him I will pick up & pay in person?

I went and looked at the ad and this is what I figured out.

1) That pic looks like it has been taken out of a magazine or something. It is too clean for a non professional photographer.

2) I would ask him exactly where that engine is and if you can have the name of the company or person that has it in their possession. If he gives the name to you then call them directly to see if they have it.

3) no phone number listed on ad. Red flag there.

4) Going thru autotrader for the deal sounds like a scam to me.

5) New member. Joined less than 2 weeks ago.

sorry Wayne , but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ' pole , he also has an add for a Porsche for $2900.,,,,he just joined yesterday,,,,,IT'S A SCAM ,,,ANY BODY THAT WON'T DEAL STRAIGHT WITH THE BUYER IS BAD NEWS , PERIOD....HELL THE BLOWER IS WORTH MORE THAN THAT NOT TO MENTION THE HEADS,,,,I'm with Dirka , it"s a magazine picture , thats all you will get is the picture,,,,,,,,,,Paul

When its to good to be true, its got to be a scam. JMO !!! $2900 The blower and carbs are worth that. Good luck If your looking for a blower motor I'm thinking about sell the one out of the chevelle.

The engine is supposed to be in California.
The Porsche is in West Virginia and he's in Florida.
Wouldn't take the chance.

That porsche seem too low? I am going to be that Hemmings car is posted elswhere and our new member lifted that photo just like the BBC.

Cant gaurantee it but gut says scam.

It is a scam. First of all, ANYONE who try's to use a big name such as the Auto Trader or E-Bay/Craig's list as an escrow agent is a scammer. Stay away from anything called a buyer protection program... they do not exist (I called & asked). Next, if it is a money gram, or wire, etc... combined w/ the above, it is a scam. I just went through this on a Craigs List Nice low/mile newer Tahoe for "3500.00". I messed with the scammer & he finally fessed up to the fact he knew that his escrow story was BS... he even sent some fake forms that looked pretty good. After several e-mails, the scammer who claims to be an American named Robert Williams, told me "there are too many stupid people out there to stop doing this". Next, anyone who GUARANTEES a sale could easily be a scammer.
